Gooooooooaaaaaallll!

Dear readers,

Sadly, today is my last day with Aunt S and Uncle J in Fort Collins. I've loved my time here, but it's time to go home. A new castle has been purchased, and it requires a princess. I have made some good friends, tasted some delicious forearms, and licked the occasional unsuspecting face. Uncle J is heartbroken that I am leaving, but rumor has it that I have shown him the joys of a two-dog household, and the good news is that I might have another cousin by the end of the summer.

The other good news: I am very proud to report that I've reached my goal weight. Surpassed it, actually. Last week I weighed in at a mere 78.5 pounds, which means that I've lost a total of 32 pounds since my journey began six short months ago. I can hike three miles on harsh terrain, sprint down the block while dragging a 165-pound man, and even chase a wayward tennis ball.

A new dog, a new life

As you can see, I am looking svelte. I'd like to thank the Academy, the staff at Countryside Animal Hospital, and even crazy cousin R, who showed me the pros and cons of an active lifestyle. As for the silvered whiskers on my chinny-chin-chin, Helen Mirren, Sean Connery, and Morgan Freeman tell me that a touch of gray suits me anyway. I'm sure you will agree that ashen jowls on a faded blue pillow connote a certain regal distinction.

Same dog, same pillow, six months later

Finally, before I slip my much-narrower hips through the doorway of my future, I would like to say thanks to all of you. Without the support of the thousands of followers of this blog, I couldn't have found the willpower, belief in myself, or ethos of self-improvement necessary to achieve my goals. There might be less of me to enjoy them, but I've got plenty of new adventures ahead - stay tuned, Oprah.
